We’re delighted to launch our new Apollo sessions: intimate live performances by incredible local artists in our contemporary bar space overlooking our garden terrace. Join us for these very special evenings of original, unplugged music underneath Luke Jerram’s beautiful hanging sculpture, Apollo. Seating is socially distanced and there will be table service for drinks and snacks.
Harriet Riley and Alex Garden combine vibraphone and violin to beautiful effect, fusing Celtic-inspired fiddle melodies with frameworks from minimalism and jazz. This concert will be the launching of their debut album Sonder, which features Bristol-based guest collaborators Stevie Toddler on double bass and Florence Lee who has painted their stunning album artwork. Harriet and Alex met in 2018 working for Live Music Now, a charity providing live music to audiences who rarely get the opportunity to experience it. Their music incorporates improvisation, extended techniques and rhythmic-interlocking using the influences from traditional folk, jazz and classical idioms. The album has been crowdfunded on kickstarter and Harriet and Alex would like to extend a special thanks to anyone who has pre-ordered and helped the record come to life. CDs and digital downloads will be available at the performance as well as limited edition prints of the artwork.
